In 2022, five organizations announced a joint initiative that encouraged hundreds of association executives, meeting, tourism, hotel and hospitality professionals meet face-to-face. That event has long been known as Ottawa Meet Week and now, those same five organizations are working hard to get you all the information you need in order to take advantage of the benefits that come with being part of such a unique event!

Ottawa Meet Week is a four-day roller coaster consisting of events hosted by the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), Meeting Professionals International (Ottawa Chapter), the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA Canada East Chapter), Destination Direct Canada and REVEAL Social.

FEBRUARY 5-6, 2024

Destination Direct Canada is a Hosted Buyer program during Ottawa Meet Week for Canadian meeting industry professionals (all expenses paid including airfare/train, accommodations, meals, entertainment, etc.) This program is meant for senior conference organizers, site selectors and association executives based in Canada who have at least one national conference that rotates to at least three Canadian provinces/territories.

The DDC Hosted Buyer program is unique in the MICE industry (MICE = Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions, not the Mickey and Minnie kind).  We’re all used to Hosted Buyer programs that have the buyers moving around the trade show floor to meet the sellers. At DDC, the DMOs are all in their own suites, in an all suite hotel, branded with their own identity, colours, swag and everything that makes them shine. The hosted buyers have a schedule and based on meetings they get to pre-select through a matchmaking software, they join the DMO rep in the suite for a 15-minute uninterrupted conversation.

Imagine what you could get done in 15 minutes with DMOs from most Canadian provinces and territories! You could meet with almost all the destination representatives across Canada and figure out in less than two days which cities CAN actually host your next conference.

FEBRUARY 6, 2024

For the 9th year, we are bringing back the industry party of the season and we want it to be bigger and better than before. We are offering great opportunities for Canada’s Destinations and their partners to be involved. REVEAL Social will be bringing together over 300 planners and association executives in an exclusive environment for a night of food, drinks and networking. And of course, there will be great music to dance to and entertain!

Do you find that invitations and appointments can fill your schedule making it challenging to fit it all in and see everyone? We have created an evening of socializing with some of the best destinations and supplier partners around and we want YOU to join us for an evening of music, fun and food.

Join us on Tuesday evening, February 6, the night before CSAE Tete a Tete, where you have the opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues during an informal, casual gathering. This evening is all about reconnecting and making new connections so that the rest of Ottawa Meet Week can be focused on business appointments and learning.

AI In the Afternoon – How #EventProfs Should Be Leveraging AI

Now, we all know that AI has crashed the party and we are starting to see the impacts of AI on the event planning industry. Using AI to speed up administrative tasks, leveraging generative AI to augment photographs, and tapping into AI to compile and analyze data are just a few of the ways that #eventprofs are getting more efficient.

From the first fully AI planned event, to emerging technologies that promise to streamline planning or augment engagement, any event professional who wants to stay competitive needs to not only use AI, but understand its implications on every facet of event planning. But where do you start? What are the important tools?  and how do you work with AI to make you more effective before it makes you redundant?

Join Anh Nguyen, a seasoned event professional who is living the same AI rollercoaster as you, as she demystifies the jargon and complexity around AI from the perspective of an event planner. You’ll walk away with an understanding of the basics of generative AI, a list of use cases where you can start using AI immediately in your jobs, and a set of tools that you can start experimenting with right away.
